How we use your information

The short version: this website sets no cookies, and nothing here follows you around the internet. We count our readers without identifying them, and the only information we ever hold about you is what you choose to send us.

When you write to us

If you use the form on our front page, or email us directly, what you send arrives as ordinary email in our own inbox:

We use what you send for one purpose: to reply, and to prepare for a conversation with you. We never sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone outside Mercaitor.

What running the site involves

Like any website, ours is served by a hosting provider (Vercel), which keeps short-lived technical logs to run and protect the service. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which sees the standard request any font download involves. Neither is used by us to identify or profile you.

What we measure

We like evidence, so we count readership: how many people visit, which pages they open, and which sections hold attention. We do it through our hosting provider's cookie-free analytics, which stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you. There are no advertising audiences and no profiles, and none of it can be connected to a person or to an enquiry.

How we work with AI

Mercaitor is a firm where senior operators direct AI systems, and we are open about that because it is the point. AI working under our partners' direction may help us read, organize, and draft replies to correspondence, including yours. A partner is accountable for every message we send and every commitment we make.

We build and train no AI models, so nothing you send us trains one of ours, and nothing you send us is sold or rented to anyone. The tools we work in are the firm's own business accounts rather than personal ones, and on the AI account our partners work in day to day, training on our material is switched off. Beyond that, what a provider may do with what passes through their software is set by their terms rather than by a switch we hold, so we will not tell you that no company anywhere keeps a copy. We would rather say what we do than promise what we cannot verify. What we do instead is check: before confidential material goes through a service, a partner reads what that provider's terms actually permit and writes down what they say. If what you want to send is sensitive, say so first and we will tell you where it goes.

Your choices

Ask us what we hold from you, or ask us to delete our correspondence with you, any time: hello@mercaitor.com. We delete it from the systems we run, and we tell you what we did and anywhere a copy is outside our reach.
